thats what we did and we are in..


I am talking about IBM GreatMinds Challenge 2006-2007

Yesterday was a judgement day for the ThinkSpecial Team from BMSCE.


On friday.....
Searching for the laptop which has good configuration ( 1GB RAM)
Called sidharth for his laptop but unable to install DB2 since it is Windows XP Home edition.
Finally we got our guide's laptop...

When the project is loaded .......
We were unable to publish (execute). We took it to my room where all of us are unitied to make it work.
Our team lead Ravindra Prabhu able to execute it. But that is not the end..
The project was not functioning as expected.
We had to return it to madam before 9.30.

Tension tension tension...

Sharath (TK) worried about food.

Around 10 I called up madam regaring laptop and madam agreed to keep it with us for the day.
Then all the bats come out of room and searching for the meals.

Finally Venkateshwara Mess was open and we took parcel and came back to room.
It was a heavy dinner (3 chapathis, full rice).
No one was able to control the sleep.

Even then we geared up and prabhu and varamballi started working on PPT.
Sharath went back to his room.


I started debugging the code..
I found the bug is with the wrong usage of comparision operator.

== for strings

Then we were able to execute it 60%
But PDF generatoin, email functionality and file upload which are major key features of the project were not working.

I dont know which version of the project was copied on to the workspace.

Since it was late night we slept at 1.30AM and opened the laptop at 6AM

Started preaparing for presentation.
Meanwhile everyone had bath and ready to rock.

Finally we are in RVCE room MCA12 at 9.00AM sharp

Mr. Shivram Ramakrishnan breifed about the process.

we choose 6th place for making the presentaion (Since we had to make the project work)

Once again I started working on file upload and able to fix it.
The PDF was not generating any values. I called prabhu to look up. Finally we fixed that also. I searched for the mail server and luckily able to get it from my laptop.

Finally the time has arrived. It was 1.30PM.
Shivram called for ThinkSpecial.

Within we are there infront of him with laptop.


We started with a greating message, he asked about ThinkSpecial.
our answer was,

We are inspired by IBM.
Think + Special is a buzz word of IBM, and hence we made it ThinkSpecial.



The series of questions by Shivram and the respective answers from the ThinkSpecial crew was great. We were able to deliver what we thought of and what we have did from the day 1 .

Shivram was happy and his feedback was like this.

1. Presentation is excellent [Eventhough you grabbed my time]
2. You have implemented features like PDF generation, email responce, file uploading, braodcasting message, Log handling which is extraordinary.
3. The design and the approach is very good.
4. I am looking for the 2nd version to make it open source.

5. Try to improve the user interface
6. Try to enhance the udability [must be siple for the end user but not for the developer]
7. Generate as many report as possible
8. Implement some logic to assign tickets automatically
